What is Umvelt?

Umvelt is a public bathhouse, inspired by the Slavic Banya tradition of sauna, cold plunge, and rewarming. Please see the amenities page for a full description of the offerings.

What is included in a day pass or standard entry?

A session pass grants you full access to all communal wellness amenities during our open hours. This typically includes the event sauna, Finnish dry sauna, steam room, cold plunge, warm spa, and lounge spaces. Towels are provided. A standard session is two hours in the bathhouse area, providing guests time to flow through their circuit several times. Guided experiences, massage services, and café purchases are not included but can be added separately.

Do I need to make a reservation, or can I walk in?

It depends! If you want to gurantee a spot, reservations via our booking link are advised. If we are at full capacity, walk-ins will be encouraged to wait in the lounge space and admitted to the bathhouse on a first come first serve basis.

Do you offer massages or other treatments?

At this time we do not offer additional treatments like massage, scrubs, esthetics, etc.

How do you maintain hygiene and cleanliness?

Cleanliness is one of our top priorities. Our facilities are regularly sanitized throughout the day and commercially cleaned at night. We have strict water treatment air filtration protocols to ensure the highest standards of safety. Pool water is partially drained daily and the pools are fully drained and cleaned weekly.

What should I bring? Are towels or robes provided?

Mostly just yourself! We provide two towels (one to sit on, one to leave in your locker for showering at the end). Some guests like to bring water bottles, robes or wraps for wearing in the lounge, and sandals for getting around. We provide all natural body/hair wash as well as conditioner and lotion, but you can bring your own if you prefer that! Jewelry bags can be helpful for keeping track of small items that you take off while using the Umvelt facility.

How long can I stay during my visit?

A standard booking is two hours. For now this applies to the bathhouse portion only, so you could sweat and soak for 2 hours before heading to the lounge for food and beverage.

Are the thermal rooms and pools co-ed?

During normal operations, our thermal rooms are co-ed and inclusive to all indentities, orientations. If a special event is gender specific, those events will be open to all individuals whom identify with that gender.

Is there a quiet policy or phone-free zone?

Yes! The bathhouse floor is a technology free zone. We also encourage our guests to speak softly so the space remains tranquil and we are being conscientous of our fellow bather's experiences.

Can I eat or drink at the spa?

Hydration is key and encouraged! The bathhouse floor has water fountains and a bottle fill station. Please bring your own bottle. On the first floor, Nissa lounge offers a rotating list of healthy beverages and food items that compliment the Umvelt experience.
